The New Zealand Telugu Association (NZTA) is a registered non-profit organisation established in 1998. Our mission is to preserve, promote and celebrate Telugu culture, language and traditions among the diaspora in New Zealand.

NZTA is primarily based in Auckland, where the majority of our major events are held. However, we have community members and representatives across New Zealand and support regional Telugu gatherings.

No. NZTA is strictly a secular, non-political cultural organisation. Our events and programmes are open to everyone regardless of religion, caste or political affiliation.

We aim to respond within 2 to 3 working days. NZTA is run entirely by volunteers, so replies during major festival weeks can take a little longer. Urgent event-day questions are best sent by WhatsApp.

NZTA is governed by an elected committee under our constitution. The committee members, our rules and our annual reports are all published on the Governance & Reports page.

Usually not. Most NZTA celebrations are free and open to everyone with no registration needed. Registration is only required where an event has limited places or a specific paid activity, such as a family Pooja booking.

For festivals such as Vinayaka Chavithi, families who want to perform the Pooja themselves book a place and pay a fee that covers the idol and Pooja items NZTA provides. Attending the celebration itself remains free.

You can pay by card through our secure Stripe checkout, or by bank transfer using the account details shown at the end of the form. Bank transfers need your name and reference number in the payment reference.

Refund policies vary by event. Generally, paid registrations are non-refundable within 7 days of the event but are transferable to another family. Contact us with your reference number and we'll help.

Yes — we love featuring community talent. Send us a message using the 'Perform at an event' topic with your performance type, duration and group size, and the cultural programme team will be in touch.

Complete the online application on our Membership page. You'll choose a membership type, enter your details, and pay by card or bank transfer. You'll get a reference number by email straight away.

Members receive discounted tickets to major events, voting rights at the Annual General Meeting, priority access to youth programmes, and exclusive community support services.

Annual memberships run for one year from the date your payment clears. Your confirmation email shows the exact expiry date. Lifetime memberships never expire.

Once we can see your transfer we'll confirm your membership by email. Please include your name and the reference number from your confirmation email in the payment reference so we can match it quickly.

We offer Silver, Gold and Platinum annual packages, plus individual event sponsorship. You can review the packages and apply online from the Become a Sponsor page.

Sponsors support NZTA financially through an annual or event package and receive brand visibility in return. Partners collaborate with us in kind — media, educational, venue or community collaborations — rather than through a sponsorship fee.

Yes. NZTA is a registered charity in New Zealand. Donations over $5 are eligible for a tax rebate, and we will email you a donation receipt automatically.

Mana Badi is our free Telugu language school, running weekly classes for children in the community. It is taught by volunteers and covers reading, writing and speaking Telugu alongside cultural learning.
